Exceptional focal length with high lens speed
The 12mm/2.8 from Samyang is a full-frame outstanding fisheye lens. With a diagonal angle of view of approx. 180° in full format, it brings a huge field of view and is therefore perfectly suited for overviews, interiors, confined spaces, as well as for reportage in such places. The lens puts the subject in the right light. With a lens speed of 1:2.8, the lens has a large initial aperture. Due to the short focal length and the low magnification, it is characterised by a very large depth of field.
High quality optics
The lens is internally focused with a closest focusing distance of approx. 20 centimetres. The optical construction with 12 lenses in 8 groups is very complex and promises the best imaging performance. Multi-coating of all lenses used in the lens is standard at Samyang. It gives you a higher light yield, better colour rendering and higher contrast. In addition, one glass surface is coated with NCS Nano Coating System, which gives you an even more brilliant image.
Built-in chip
A chip built into the lens allows you to work with exposure or programme automatic. It also transfers EXIF data such as aperture, ISO value or exposure time.
Note:When using the lens on a autofocus DSLR, please set the aperture ring on the lens to the smallest value, the red marked aperture 22. Now a transfer of the EXIF data is ensured, the camera can now control the aperture directly in the modes time/aperture and programme automatic. The focusing is purely manual.
Advantages of a full-frame lens on a camera with an APS-C sensor
Save time in post-processing. A lot of lens aberrations like distortion, edge blur or vignetting occur on the outer areas of the image. If you use a lens calculated for full format on a camera with an APS-C sensor, these areas are not used. This way you get the maximum quality. Additional post-processing time to correct lens errors is therefore not necessary.
